Fairford Leys
The Ernest Cook Trust has always had a concern for its duty in conserving and maintaining the architectural standards on its estates. Many of the houses and buildings on those estates are beautiful or historic, or sometimes both. The Trust has been careful to use and maintain its buildings with sympathy, and to use authentic materials and employ skilled architects and craftsmen.

However, the Trust is not only interested in what is best from the past. It is also interested in what is best for the present and the future. Over the past few years, it has, with partners, been developing a new residential area on ECT land at Fairford Leys, near Aylesbury. The aim has been to create a modern community, built to the highest standards of design. Nationally known firms have joined with the Trust’s architect, John Simpson, to build houses in a range of styles that reflect traditional vernacular design, and great attention has been paid to detail.
The aspiration is to create a new community with its own pride and identity, served by its own shops, church, community centre, health centre and sports facilities, and much of this has already been achieved. Known as Fairford Leys it has its own civil parish and institutions.
